40 acres of parkway

At three miles long and nearly 100 feet wide for most of the trail, converting the Kenton Avenue rail into a multi-use pedestrian path would create nearly 40 acres of new parkland, revitalizing an outdated industrial corridor. This would not only be a huge amenity for the people of Chicago in the neighborhoods surrounding the trail, but it would also be a refuge for native plants and wildlife.
